When mosquitoes are seen flying around it is not only annoying but also a significant risk in terms of transmitting diseases. Mosquito control is a vital public-health practice throughout the world and especially in India because mosquitoes spread diseases, such as malaria, dengue, and chikungunya. Mosquito control can be achieved through a systematic inspection and treatment that can involve some or all of the following activities.
SOURCE REDUCTION
Scores of mosquitoes breed in stagnant water, source reduction can be as simple as emptying water from containers around the home. This is something that homeowners can accomplish without much difficulty. For example, homeowners can eliminate mosquito breeding grounds by removing unused plastic pools, coolers, old tires, or buckets; by clearing clogged gutters and repairing leaks around faucets; by regularly changing the water in birdbaths and by filling or draining puddles, swampy areas, and tree stumps.
Eliminating such mosquito breeding areas can be an extremely effective and permanent way to reduce mosquito populations without resorting to insecticides. Our technicians also advise housing societies on potential mosquito breeding sites during routine inspections that can then be acted upon by the management committee.
LARVICIDING
Control of mosquito larvae can be accomplished through the use of larvicides, growth regulators, and surface films. These are applied at potential mosquito breeding sites such as nullahs outside the complex. The recommended frequency of application is monthly.
ADULTICIDING
FOGGING
Fogging is accomplished by ground-based applications or via aerial application of chemical pesticides such as thermal fogging. This is done primarily in outdoor areas. The frequency of the treatment depends on the intensity of the problem and the PMS trained technicians will advise on the best course of action.
SPRAYING
We spray a colorless and odorless insecticide on the walls. The insecticide is harmless for human beings. The mosquitoes sit on the wall, come in contact with the insecticide, and die. This treatment is effective for 2 to 3 months.
